Zusammenfassung

Der elektive (selektive) Mutismus ist durch eine emotional bedingte Selektivität des Sprechens definiert, die nahezu regelhaft mit einer komorbiden Störung mit sozialer Ängstlichkeit des Kindesalters bzw. Sozialphobie einhergeht. Die Erkrankung wird seit 2013 im DSM-5 den Angststörungen zugeordnet. Selektive Serotonin-Wiederaufnahmehemmer (SSRIs) sind Mittel der ersten Wahl bei Patienten, die auf eine multimodale psychotherapeutische Intervention unzureichend angesprochen haben.
