Zusammenfassung

Als Metastasierung wird der Prozess der Absiedlung und des Wachstums von Tumorzellen in einem vom Primärtumor entfernten Organ bezeichnet. Da der heutige Stand der medizinischen Technik die Entfernung nahezu jeden Primärtumors erlaubt, ist es dieser Prozess der Metastasierung und insbesondere die Repetitivität dieses Vorgangs, die noch immer häufig den Grenzstein kurativer Therapie darstellen. Untersuchungen zur Mechanistik, die einer Tumorzelle Invasivität verleihen, sind daher eine essentielle Voraussetzung für die Erarbeitung prinzipiell neuer therapeutischer Konzepte.
