Abstract
A method to measure emissivities of quartz and Sahara dust powders from space is discussed based on the simulation in the infrared wavelength region(7–17μm). The doubling method is adopted for the emissivity computation under the assumption of cloudy atmosphere of substances. Furthermore, the discrimination of the surface characteristics is forcussed in the wavelenths to be provided by the ASTER-EOS and NOAA-AVHRR channels.
