Developmental Changes in Cerebral Amino Acids and Protein Metabolism

  • Conference paper

Part of the book series: NATO ASI Series ((ASIH,volume 20))

Abstract

This chapter will examine developmental changes in the free amino acid pool and in protein metabolism in the brain, and the possible relationship of the changes in amino acids and the proteins. An important aspect of this subject, the developmental changes in amino acid supply to the brain via capillary transport through the blood-brain barrier, will not be discussed in detail, since it will be treated in the next chapter by Dr. Lefauconnier.
