The Structure of the Extracellular Hemoglobin of Annelids

  • Conference paper
Invertebrate Oxygen Carriers

Abstract

Annelid extracellular hemoglobins (also named erythrocruorins and chlorocruorins after the nature of the porphyrin group) are very similar proteins as indicated by their functional, structural and chemical properties. We believe that a single model can elucidate how the subunits and the polypeptide chains are arranged in the double hexagonal prism of these respiratory proteins.
