Abstract

Blood purification by hemofiltration has been used clinically since 1 974 in Europe (1), Japan (2), and the United States (3).. In recent years hemofiltration has moved from an experimental to a routine method in adults, especially in Europe (4, 5, 6), a change induced by positive clinical experience (7, 8, 9). Advances in technology and monitoring (10) allowed us to apply this treatment for the first time in children.
