Abstract
Halobis(tert-phosphine)alkylpalladium complexes, RPd(PR3)2X, were prepared from dihalobis(tert-phosphine)palladium compounds, (R3P)2PdX2 through the reaction with alkylmagnesium halides or with alkyllithium derivatives in ether below room temperature. Analogous reactions with arylmagnesium halides gave the corresponding arylpalladium compounds. Fluoro(bipyridyl)methylpalladium was obtained as a by-product from (bipyridyl)dimethylpalladium by the reaction with heptafluoropropyl iodide. The halo(methyl)palladium complexes were converted to the acetyl complexes by the reaction with carbon monoxide at room temperature at atmospheric pressure. Metathesis of the halo(alkyl)palladium complexes with alkali cyanides and thiocyanates gave the corresponding cyano and thiocyanato derivatives. Dichlorodi-μ-(ethylthiolato)bis(tributylphosphine)dipalladium was converted to di-μ-(ethylthiolato)bis(tributylphosphine)dimethyldipalladium through the reaction with methyllithium.
