What Do We Know About Viruses in Terrestrial Antarctica?

Antarctic Terrestrial Microbiology

Abstract

Very little is known about viruses in soils and, given the small number of studies on Antarctic soils, it is unsurprising that definitive information about viruses in Antarctic soils is sparse. The occurrence of unusual virological observations (novel virus, dual virus sequences, virophage, and large phage to host ratios in Antarctic soils) suggests that substantial unexplored detail exists for viruses in Antarctic soils.
