Abstract
We tend to think in terms of chaos and randomness because they are facile “solutions” that do not demand further investigation. If one searches for order, a large effort is obligatory with long working days at the laboratory bench and at the microscope. Moreover, it demands a concentration into a given trail of thought that does not allow distractions.
The great effort carried out by researchers, in many laboratories of molecular cytogenetics, has led to the discovery of order at every genetic level from the genetic code to the many repair and proof-reading mechanisms that occur at the level of DNA, RNA and the proteins. Besides, cell division and chromosome movements turn out to be orchestrated by proteins and the trafficking of molecules in the cell was found to be guided and controlled at every step.
Significant is that order is present at every level of molecular activity but is not total.
