Abstract

The paper presents a method for the design of gearbox fault diagnosis systems based on the LabVIEW software, using the empirical mode decomposition algorithm. The developed system is composed of two parts. One is the software part based on the LabVIEW software, exploiting the empirical mode decomposition algorithm to extract the fault information from the signal collected from a defective gearbox. Another is the hardware system, by which the developed system can be achieved. The running results indicated that the developed system was rapid and accurate for diagnosing the fault of the gearbox. The paper apparently provides a helpful scheme for the design of gearbox fault diagnosis systems.
