Abstract
The central few arc seconds of the prototypical Seyfert 2 galaxy, NGC 1068, have been the subject of intense study ever since Antonucci and Miller (1985) first reported the presence of broad lines in the polarized optical spectrum, corroborating the existence of a hidden Seyfert 1 component. However, emission at optical wavelengths is heavily affected by differential extinction effects, which make it difficult to determine the intrinsic distribution of emitting material.
