Abstract
The appendix, also known as the vermiform process or processus vermiformis, is a long (2–20 cm), narrow, tubular diverticulum, which starts from the apex of the cecum and extends posteromedially. The appendix is most commonly retrocecal (58%), pelvic (22%), or paracecal (12%).
