Abstract

This chapter explains the outcome of the reforms—and of the political economy of such reforms in 2004–2012—discussed in the previous chapters. Despite significant external and internal challenges, Georgia posted one of the highest real growth rates, attracted significant foreign investment and made important strides in its fight against corruption. The author applies a cross-country perspective to compare Georgia’s performance to the broader neighborhood and beyond.
