Northern Cooperation – an international organization consisting of the Northern Council (1952) and the Northern Council of Ministers (1971). The member countries include: Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Finland, and Sweden. N.C.’s objective is to promote cooperation between governments and parliaments on three levels: intraregional (security, culture, education, employment, ecology, joint projects), European (with EU and other organizations on the political, economic, social, scientific, ecological, and other subject matters), and interregional (with specific regions on specific subject matters). The headquarters is located in Copenhagen.
