Abstract

Nicolaus Viti Gozzius was one of the most important Croatian Renaissance philosophers, a polymath who actively participated in the public life of Dubrovnik. On several occasions, he was elected Rector. He left behind approximately twenty works, some remaining in manuscript. Although his most important works deal with the issues of aesthetics, he also wrote significant works belonging to the history of the Aristotelian strand of the Renaissance philosophy. Moreover, he was interested in political philosophy. His works were written in Latin and Italian.
