Abstract

Regular evaluation of a behavioral health consultation service is an important part of making it successful. Proper program evaluation can help assess the extent to which clinicians are practicing with fidelity to the PCBH model, generate feedback about the service’s strengths and weaknesses, and aid in evaluation of the impact of quality improvement and other initiatives.

This chapter details the important components of a program evaluation, including productivity, model fidelity, patient and PCP satisfaction, and clinical effectiveness metrics. Also discussed are tools for measuring treatment response in adults and youths, screening strategies, and ideas for future research evaluating the PCBH model.
