Abstract
Specific phobia arises early in life, and it can be a sign of a further psychopathology in the future. The diagnostic procedure, the epidemiology, the comorbidity, the etiology, as well as the psychotherapy in the context of CBT and further developments will be displayed. CBT is an evidence-based treatment for specific phobia. The recovery process of this disorder will be described. Clinical and research implications are discussed.
