Abstract

Drawing on an exhaustive rapid assessment survey undertaken throughout the country using Google forms, the chapter presents individual experiences and responses of women students in higher education during the Covid-19 pandemic. It foregrounds the problems and challenges that have emerged with the shift from offline to online classes. These include assessing the status of access to and use of digital modes of communication and how this has tended to sharpen the digital divide, with consequences that are yet to be fully understood as far as the student population is concerned. It also discusses the implications of the ‘new normal’ in education on women faculties, who have often had to cope with a range of issues posed by the work from home scenario. Overall, it is suggested that more imaginative, inclusive and constructive responses need to be put forward and implemented.
