Abstract

This chapter briefly explores the history of nutraceuticals with a focus on those used in the prevention of cardiovascular events. Starting from an etymological introduction, a concise overview of some key historical elements of red yeast, dietary fibre, dark chocolate, strawberries, garlic, the Mediterranean diet is provided.

Lord George Gordon Byron (1788–1824)
