Abstract

Many evacuation behavior models have been proposed recently from various perspectives. Furthermore, when an earthquake disaster occurs indoors, evacuees often start evacuation behavior when actually seeing fire or smoke, when a power failure occurs, or when surrounding people start evacuation. Evacuation behavior is known to be related to the psychological tendency and psychological state of an evacuee. This study was conducted to obtain systematic data for psychological characteristics and behavioral correspondence during a fire and to use those data to construct an evacuation behavior model in evacuation simulations. Therefore, we developed an evacuation training system using virtual reality (VR), a technology that allows people to experience events as though they were real in a space created artificially using a computer. Evacuation behavior data acquired with a high sense of realism was used.
