Abstract

There is a need for pharmacists who specialize in compounding. Since pharmacy schools focus on clinical practice, pharmacists must be trained in compounding through special training programs. A compounding pharmacist must have access to good, quality compounding resources, use his or her professional knowledge to develop new formulas and dosage forms to meet the specific needs of patients. With the proper training, education, expertise, and resources, a compounding pharmacist can provide a valuable service in treating pediatric patients.
