Spin Polarized Electron Detectors for Surface Magnetism

  • Chapter
Polarized Electron/Polarized Photon Physics

Abstract

The study of magnetic processes at surfaces and in ultra thin layers has seen significant advances during the past ten years as a result of a wide variety of experiments involving spin polarized electrons. The majority of these experiments have measured the polarization of electrons emitted from a magnetic sample, and a variety of polarimeter types have been used. The use of polarized electron sources, however, is less widespread. A comprehensive review was given in reference 1.
