Abstract
The accurate measurement of body protein content in normal children has the potential to produce very useful information. Firstly, the relationship between body protein and growth (not only of height and weight, but also of body compartment sizes) could be investigated, thus providing insights into the normal physiology of growth in children. Secondly, it would provide control data that would be vital for the interpretation of body protein measurements in children with malnutrition due to a variety of causes.
