Abstract

In the last ten years it has become possible to routinely analyse molecules of the size of alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) by mass spectrometry. This has come about primarily as a result of the introduction of two new ionisation methods, namely matrix assisted laser desorption ionisation (MALDI) (Karas and Hillenkamp, 1988) and electrospray (ES).
