Abstract
Among professional pilots, there’s a well-worn saying: ”Flying is simply hours of boredom punctuated by moments of stark terror.” It’s an adage that Lockheed test pilot Bill Weaver can relate to. In january 1986, Weaver, together with flighttest specialist jim Zwayer, was evaluating systems on an SR-71 (Figure 6.1) during a Blackbird test from Edwards Air Force Base.
