Although quantum mechanics has predicted an extraordinary range of phenomena with unprecedented accuracy, it remains controversial. Bohr and Heisenberg pronounced it "a complete theory" in 1927, but Einstein never accepted it, and as late as 1989 John Bell charged it with dividing the world of physics.
