Understanding the Limited Chinese Natural Language

Abstract

According to certain statistics, there are in total 5651 different languages and their dialects in the world. Not included are the many ancient languages which have already died out. Some thousands of current languages are declining. The number of people using these languages are getting less and less. Based on a study of the linguistics experts, about 2790 languages are independent ones. Seventy percents of them do not yet possess a written form. The number of languages which have been studied systematically by linguists is estimated to 500. Among them, only 13 languages are spoken by more than sixty million people. The Chinese language occupies the first place. About 36 percents of people in the world use Chinese Characters in their languages.
