4. Conclusion
In closing, it is anticipated that this conference will not only provide a comprehensive review of the current state of knowledge of NAA and NAAG but will also define the many important and critical questions that need to be addressed in future research. It is hoped that the proceedings of the conference will attract a broader interest in these moieties, as they have been linked to serious disorders including schizophrenia, Alzheimer’s Disease and pain. Given their remarkably high concentrations in the brain, the current level of research on NAAG and NAA seems to underestimate their potential significance.
