Zusammenfassung

Polytrauma sowie Mehrfachverletzung bedeuten gerade für Kinder eine besondere Bedrohung sowohl in der Akut- als auch in der dem Trauma folgenden Phase. Verletzungsmuster und Reaktionsform des kindlichen Organismus unterscheiden sich von denen bei Erwachsenen. Gerade die Pathophysiologie des Kindes beeinflusst die Primärtherapie; ihre Kenntnis ist Grundlage eines kindgerechten Traumamanagements. Epidemiologie, Verletzungsmuster, pathophysiologische Besonderheiten, topographisch orientierte Diagnostik und Primärtherapie werden im Überblick systematisch dargestellt, um die Bedeutung der Einzelverletzungen beim Komplextrauma zu veranschaulichen.

Abstract

Multiple trauma and injury are always life threatening in children, in both the acute and the subsequent phase. Patterns of injury and physiological responses to trauma are significantly different from those in adult patients. Knowledge of the aspects of physiopathology specific to childhood is thus the cornerstone of effective trauma care, which is the key to decreasing mortality and morbidity in severely injured children. Epidemiology, mechanisms and pattern of injuries, physiopathologic response, primary diagnosis, and emergency treatment strategies are described with reference to anatomical details.
