Conclusions

Tellurides of Subgroup VIa transition metals are fully decomposed by oxidizing acids. The reactions of hydrochloric acid and dilute sulfuric acid with chromium telluride are accompanied by hydrogen telluride evolution, which is not observed in the reactions of these acids with molybdenum and tungsten tellurides. The hypothesis is advanced that the proportion of ionic bonding is higher in chromium telluride than in molybdenum and tungsten tellurides.
