2007, Gynecologic OncologyCitation Excerpt :Most of the major radiation-induced bowel complications after surgery are thought to be a result of bowel adhesions to abdominal scars. The shift from laparotomy to transperitoneal laparoscopy has been shown to reduce postoperative adhesion formation in these patients [28]. Our laparoscopic extraperitoneal approach further reduces intraperitoneal adhesion formation when compared to even the laparoscopic transperitoneal approach [29].
