These were far below the NOAELs for inorganic fluoride regarding maternal (18 mg/kg/KG) and development toxicity NOAELs (29 mg/kg/KG)(Heindel et al., 1996). The low fluoride excretion in comparison to the content of N-acetyl-S-(3,3,3-trifluoro-2-hydroxypropanyl)-L-cysteine in the rabbit urine samples, is likely due to the disposition of inorganic fluoride since only about 15% of fluoride intake is excreted in the urine (Hall et al., 1977).
