Although descriptions of abnormal murine behavior following cerebral nocardial infections were reported [5–13], no photographic evidence showing this movement disorder was ever published. A blinded study was initiated to determine whether or not dopamine depletion correlated with the development of movement disorders in nocardiae-infected mice, with emphasis on animals that exhibited head tremors.

2007, Handbook of Clinical NeurologyNocardia asteroides strain GUH-2 induces proteasome inhibition and apoptotic death of cultured cells
2007, Research in MicrobiologyCitation Excerpt :Live or heat-killed nocardiae (at an approximate MOI of 5:1) or unconcentrated culture filtrate (in an equivalent volume) was then added to appropriate wells and the cells were incubated at 37 °C. The standard TUNEL assay was then performed [43]. Briefly, following incubation the cells were harvested, washed, and incubated with labeling solution containing fluorescently tagged nucleotides and terminal deoxyribonucleotidyltransferase for 90 min according to the manufacturer's instructions (Calbiochem).
