Fibrillin-2 and Tenascin-C bridge the age gap in lung epithelial regeneration
2017, BiomaterialsCitation Excerpt :Tenascin-C is a large ECM glycoprotein that is expressed during development and also upon tissue damage, where it is up-regulated within 24 h of injury [37]. It has been reported that TN-C is enriched in the rat lung at post-natal week 1, during active alveolarization, and then declines to barely detectable levels by the third week of life [28]. The current study utilized adult (>8 weeks old) rats, which should be depleted in TN-C.

2014, Acta HistochemicaCitation Excerpt :One possible stimulus for the expression of TN-C around ovulation is hypoxia, which would result during this period. Morphogenesis of lung, for example, not only occurs in response to hypoxia but is also associated with increase in TN-C expression (Young et al., 1994; Gebb et al., 2005). TN-C is also an early marker for healing wound and it is associated with migrating cells (Mackie et al., 1988).
