Furthermore, sequencing of the Drosophila gene encoding the corazonin (or CRZ) precursor revealed similarities with the AKH precursor, providing additional evidence that AKH and corazonin are evolutionarily related (Veenstra, 1994). The first evidence of a GnRH-like signaling system in insects was the sequencing of a Drosophila G-protein coupled receptor related to vertebrate GnRH-type receptors (Hauser et al., 1998).
